Accessibility statement

Gavel is committed to making this site usable by everyone, regardless of ability or assistive technology. This page sets out how we approach accessibility, what is currently in place, and how to reach us if you encounter a barrier.

Standard targeted: WCAG 2.2 Level AA (also satisfies the US WCAG 2.1 AA benchmark) · Last reviewed: [REPLACE WITH DATE OF YOUR LAST ACCESSIBILITY AUDIT]

What we've built in

Full keyboard navigation

Every interactive element is reachable via Tab and Shift+Tab. Visible focus indicators on all controls. Modals and drawers trap focus while open. Where arrow-key navigation is supported (menus, listboxes), it is documented in the relevant component.

Reduced-motion support

Setting `prefers-reduced-motion: reduce` in your OS suppresses every animation across the site, including marquees, smooth scroll, and any 3D / WebGL backgrounds.

Screen-reader semantics

ARIA labels on icon-only buttons, `aria-current` on active navigation, `aria-expanded` on toggles, `aria-live` regions for dynamic toast notifications.

WCAG 2.2 AA targeted

Designed and tested against WCAG 2.2 AA, including the new 2.2 success criteria: SC 2.5.8 (Target Size 24×24 px), SC 2.4.11 (Focus Not Obscured), and SC 2.5.7 (Dragging Movements alternatives).

Found a barrier?

If something blocks you from using Gavel, email us and we will respond within 5 working days. Where possible we will offer an alternative way to complete the task.
